Southeast Alternative Schools

Camp We Can

Community Care Services’ summer program for students with Asperger’s Syndrome and related characteristics at its Southeast Alternative School’s Cape Cod Campus.

WHAT are we offering? Camp We Can means a summer of safe, fun, adventure and new learning experiences! At Camp We Can, our experienced, professional staff emphasize the development of the whole child and build on each camper’s strengths. Camp We Can participants will grow confidence and character and development of meaningful peer and staff relationships. Our activities include: nature study, arts & crafts, ropes course, swimming, independent living skills, sports and other community experiences—all provided in small groups with a 2:1 camper to staff ratio. Camp We Can also includes one overnight camping experience!

WHY a summer program? Some youth need a more structured summer experience, sometimes called an extended year, to help them retain the skills they’ve learned during the school year. They benefit from being with trained staff who support their growth and provide social skills practice within a structured day program.

WHEN does this happen? July 7th through August 1st, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 9:00 AM until 2:00 PM.

WHERE is the school? Our Cape Cod Campus is located at 270 Communications Way, 2G in Hyannis, MA. Many Camp We Can activities will be offered at YMCA Cape Cod’s Camp Lyndon in Sandwich, in a specialized program we developed for our campers.

HOW can I learn more? Please call Deb Smusz at (508) 821-7777 ext. 252 or Traci Wyse at (508) 862-0288 for more information.
